The 408 COVID-19 visa allows people working in key sectors in Australia to remain for up to 12 months to keep working here.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This visa also had a stream to allow people to remain in Australia because they were unable to leave due to travel restrictions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Recently this visa was expanded beyond the key sectors to allow people to apply for this visa even if they work in other sectors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Key sectors<\/strong> (aged care, agriculture, child care, disability care, food processing, health care, tourism and hospitality) \u2013 you can get a 12 month visa to remain and work in Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Any other sector<\/strong> \u2013 you can get a 6 month visa to remain and work in Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n

You will need to prove that you are employed in Australia or have a job offer to work.<\/span><\/p>\n

You will only be eligible for this visa if you apply within 90 days of your visa expiring or within 28 days after your visa has expired.<\/span><\/p>\n

From 21 February 2022 \u2013 you can no longer apply for a 408 visa on the basis that you were unable to depart Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 408 visa also does not require you to pay any application fees!<\/span><\/p>\n
